Jonathon’s approach is patient centred, and individualised using Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina massage, joint mobilisation, Qigong movement exercises, stretch, breath, meditation, dietary and lifestyle suggestions to help bring your mind and body into balance, improve health, optimize function and get you back to doing what you love to do.

He enjoys sharing ideas from Chinese Medicine philosophy that help us live in a more harmonious way with each other and nature. He likes to bring a calm clear present moment focus and mindfulness, with a warm compassionate ability to listen and see what is going on.

Prior to being in Wanaka, he has spent the last 9 years training and working in Auckland, in a long established and integrated Physio, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine clinic, The Body Workshop in West Auckland where he treated a wide range musculoskeletal and internal medicine conditions, seeing a large cross section of people, from children, teenagers, adults, elderly, athletes, trade’s, dancers, and working closely with physiotherapists, sonographer and other Health Care specialists.

For Acute and Chronic Pain he’s studied Sports Medicine Acupuncture with Matt Callison, and uses an integrated approach using Palpation, Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua sha, Tuina massage with observation -postural analysis, corrective exercises, mobilisation, and fascial release techniques.

 

He is able to compliment and work alongside Physiotherapists, Osteopath, Chiropractor or Sports Medicine Doctors.

For Internal Medical complaints he identifies patterns of symptoms, feels your pulse and looks at the tongue, uses Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Supplements, and Moxibustion. He incorporates any biomedical diagnosis, investigations or imaging into his diagnosis and understanding of what’s happening and is able to work alongside General Practioners, Neurologists or other healthcare practitioners.

Neurological - post-concussion syndrome, cognitive impairment / decline, headache, migraines;

Gynaecological - menstrual, fertility, pregnancy, induction, menopause.

Orthopaedic - Pain, Injury, surgical recovery, nerve or disc damage, range of movement issues

As a qualified Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Medicine Practitioner, and Tuina Massage Therapist, I am committed to providing holistic healthcare solutions. With nearly ten years of experience in Auckland, I am thrilled to now serve the Wanaka community.

 

I am drawn to the Yin-Yang philosophy of Chinese medicine and its emphasis on balance. My ongoing investigation explores the intersection of traditional acupuncture and neuroscience, deepening my understanding of the effectiveness of acupuncture

 

My therapeutic approach incorporates acupuncture, electroacupuncture, tuina-massage, guasha-scraping, cupping, herbal medicine, and qigong.

 

Areas of interest include:

  • managing acute/chronic musculoskeletal pain

  • women’s health – menstrual, fertility, pregnancy and menopause

  • cosmetic

  • skin conditions

  • mental conditions - insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, post-concussion syndrome

 

Originally from Seoul, Korea, I have called New Zealand home for over a decade. When not practicing, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my partner and discovering the stunning landscapes of the South Island.
